I am really intrigued by this character after I found him at the Black Swan Inn. I hope that with all your work on other things that you will be able to get his story line up and running ’cause I really want to get to know him better and maybe marry him. After having Garrett as a follower for a while I really like the faithfull friend he has become in the game. He also doesn’t seem to have a wandering eye for the ladies that Darion does.when in a romance. I really am anticipating him being fully voiced. Thanks again for your work!!
Oh! One big problem I have with him is he will not accept a new home assignment. Whenever I dismiss him he walks all the way back to the Black Swan. He also has started to wander off when he is following and I have to call for him to get him back.

I love his new lines and his armor is gorgeous. I know the armor is of someone else s design but is it possible to have it craft-able in game?

I hesitate to make it craftable, since that might make people not get the original mod. The only advantage (and really not a big one) would be that you could temper HIS outfit.
I met Garrett for the first time at the Black Swan Inn. But poor Garrett’s body is invisible. Oh dear. I’m not sure what could have gone wrong with him. I got Anna’s NPC’s when I downloaded Become a Bard Anduniel Expansion. Would help to get Anna’s NPC’s from the Nexus site. I hope that makes sense.
No that doesn’t make sense. Did you get it from Steam? Both are the same file, and nothing wrong with his outfit. Maybe you need to reinstall.

Will Garrett be marriageable/romance-able past flirting relatively soon? It would be nice to at least hug him or kiss him after 30 levels and at least 30 favor points . Thanks for all your hard work!!
Could you please clarify what is meant by joining a Guild Faction? Do you mean Imperial/Stormcloak, or does it have to be a more specific guild such as the Thieves or companions?

I know Garrett is a work in progress, but on the Nexus site it mentions that he has a wedding etc. Is this correct as I can’t find it mentioned anywhere else other than on the picture on the Nexus page!
I really love his voice acting. I can’t wait until he has more voiced dialogue just so I can ask him questions. I thought it quite comical that when in battle and not using his bow he’s shooting torches at his enemy. I’m not sure if this is intentional since the torches are not on the ground afterward though.
Christian will appreciate it 🙂 The torches thing is something I’m working on that goes with his background (along with throwing knives), inspired by the mod “Throwing Weapons,” but obviously the mechanics need work. I’m just not sure the best way to make it happen.

Is there an easier way to get the affection higher because giving gifts doesn’t work for me and ive run out of dialogue for him
Umm… how exactly does it not work? The gifts dialogue has a 24 in-game hr timer on it, so you can’t just spam gifts.
Gift giving is not working for me either! Multiple in game days will go by and when I tell him I have a gift for him, it does not go to the gift screen (I do have the gifts in my inventory). I also am not getting approval points when I talk to him 😦
Ok, how do you know you aren’t getting approval points? Does the number in MCM not go up, or did you actually check the variable in console? “GetGlobalValue An_GarrettFavor” It should be increasing. I really can’t say why it isn’t working; it’s quite simple and works for me…

While playing with Garret as my main companion I have run across a few new issues and continue with some old ones. While in Garret’s cabin I cannot use the bed ’cause it says I am trespassing even though I am there with him and he gave me a key. I also had him wear some other armor for a while then I had to dismiss him for a solo mission and when I returned he was naked in the Inn and now I cannot find his original armor anywhere. Any suggestions or ideas?
Garret still will not use an assigned bed and if dismissed he will walk all the way back to The Back Swan Inn even if we have designated his cabin as his home.
I am still using your 3.0 Mod update and I was wondering if his wedding is available on 3.0 or is it on the later versions. If so will you be launching the later version ( 3.01, ect. ) in the near future with all that you are working on.

You should be able to sleep in Garrett’s bed if married to him.
3.0.1 has been up for a while. Have you read the Changes page? Several issues you mention are addressed there.
I read the changes page every time I visit this site but does 3.01 automatically makes the change/update or do I have to subscribe to 3.01 and unsubscribe from 3.0 like before with 2.09. Thanks and I’m sorry to seem dense.
Honestly, I don’t know. Probably. With 2.0.9 to 3.0 it was because I had a fresh installation on my PC, so it uploaded as a new mod, and for 3.0 to 3.0.1 is is the same thing, which is why I have not yet updated Steam to 3.0.1. When I update to 3.0.2 (on the same day as Nexus), it will probably upload a new mod again. That’s one thing I really dislike about Steam vs. Nexus. I wish it could detect if there is already a mod with the exact same name already up and ask to overwrite.

Love your mod, and am excited for Garrett’s updates! However, I’m having a rather troublesome issue. I started a new game and am part of the Companions and College of Winterhold. When he says he will call for an ale, nothing happens and he greets me again like we never spoke. I thought maybe one of the other NPCs was a cause for the issue, so I killed two of your patrons and attacked the bard and the inn keeper. I even attacked GARRETT! 😀 …But no, hitting things with a club did not solve the issue this time. :3

Well, I tried waiting for Isabela, but she never came. She just stood at the bar. And then I tried the code, but when I did it, all I could say to Garrett was “I am done tweaking,” to which he would reply “okay,” and end the script. Mara hates me. :c
Somethings wrong. It works. Just hit T and wait 1 hr, Isabela will come. Get the 3.0.3a esp update.
I already had the update installed, and reinstalled it, but I am encountering the same issue. I waited an hour and she won’t come. Is there a dialogue script for Isabella that triggers the event? :S

Hi note sure why but I can recruit garret get passed all the dialogue but he doesn’t follow me out of the inn and I can’t summon him. It just says garret busy summon denied….is there something I missed doing in order to recruit him?
Uh, not sure, that’s the first I heard of that. He works and follows fine for me and others. Did you install manually or with NMM? Sometimes NMM can mess it up…

Hi I really love this mod and having Garrett as a follower. Only problem is I can’t give him an ingredient as a gift, the dialogue never show up and I am pretty sure that I have one of each in my inventory. The mead and book options is there but not the ingredient option. Please help !
Been a while since I looked at that script but it doesn’t depend on specific ingredients, but opens a trade where you can give him any ingredients you have, like with Nadina’s ingredient gifts. I had it work, don’t know why you don’t…
It is not that he won’t accept a certain ingredient, the dialogue option to give him one don’t appear..? Do I only need to put it in his inventory?
Another problem 😦 Now that we begin to romance he won’t even accept the mead nor the wine or rum as a gift anymore, the dialogue appear and I have the mead in my inventory but when I click on the option “I have a gift for you” the dialogue just fade away. 48hr past and he still won’t accept. Guess I’m stuck on 25 approval and wont be able to progress any further. Sigh…..well I really was looking forward to marry him, but that doesn’t seems to be happening.
I’m having this same problem. I have all sorts of different alcoholic beverages but it’s not giving me the option to gift them even after waiting 48 hours. Is there a way to increase approval points using console? Or maybe there’s a specific beverage I need in my inventory? I’ve also never had the option to gift him any ingredients
Very strange and frustrating. I started new game and have no trouble doing either, so far. You can cheat, cc “set an_GarrettFavor to x” if you really need to.
Am doing a major update and fixing a bunch of things as I play/test, but I didn’t find anything wrong with that script…
Now December 2018, I am playing 4.11 version of SSE. I still have the same problem, I hope that I don’t need to use cheat at future versions.
I know the author is very busy, but I like Garrett very much, and I will wait patiently for his perfection ver.

I am a little confused with Garrett’s favor point system. Unlike with Teryn and Darion, Garrett’s statistics won’t show his favor points. And the only way to get text saying I have gained favor is by giving gifts to him. (Though, there is no evidence that it is registering them.) I progressed through his dialogue to the point where he gives me his house key, which makes me wonder if his favor points are just invisible? Hope you are having a good holiday!

I have been looking this up everywhere, and can;t find anything. I can’t get Garret to follow me out of Black Swan-Inn. I walk out of there, and he is no where to be found. I even try to summon him, but my game says he is too busy.

Much like Fairen and Benitas’ most recent posts I am having an interesting problem with Garrett. My exchange dialogue with him does not grant me favor points. This does not happen when I reload to me backup save and romance Teryn, for example. It’s a clean save, I am not romancing anyone else and I meet all of the mentioned prerequisites. I have reached the point in his dialogue where I may flirt, but still, I recieve no favor points. The only time I can is when I gift Garrett ale or some form of drink. I tried gifting him drinks until I could enter the romance by having 20 or 30 favor hoping then I would be able to earn more through dialogue when i came across an interesting bug. After one or two gifts on seperate in game days whenever I selected ‘I have a gift for you’ the dialogue fades away ending our conversation. Call it coincidence but the success of gifting to Garrett began to not work the first time his response was “it’s not my birthday… but alright.” So it appears I have no way of earning favor with Garrett haha. I don’t normally leave replies on mod pages or blogs but I see you’ve very responsive after all this time. I hope this was descriptive enough and I hope you get around to seeing this. Please and thank you so much for any help, insight or troubleshooting!
Thanks for letting me know you already read the pages. For Gifting, if you don’t have anything relevant in your inventory to give him, then yes, the conversation would end after the initial “I have a gift for you.” To move on from there, you must have 1) an alcoholic beverage, 2) an ingredient, 3) the book A Game At Dinner, or 4) the book The Marksmanship Lesson.
Since that seems to cause confusion for some people, I’m adding the additional conditions to the initial line as well, so “I have a gift” won’t even come up if you don’t have ANY of those things on you. But chances are, unless you just never pick anything up, you’ll at least have a few ingredients, right? There are no other conditions for the line, other than some for females only, and one for if you’ve already begun romance.

Hello, another person with gifting issues. The first time, I only had the option to give him booze even though I had ingredients. After that, I couldn’t gift again until I found the two books. Any ideas?
Afraid not, no more ideas that I’ve already given people. Unfortunately since I don’t have the gifting problem I can’t reproduce it, and it really doesn’t help me all you saying “me too.” With next update I’m changing a lot of things, including gifting.

It could just be glitching. Try cc “setstage an_garrettdialogue 7” to skip forward to him calling for a drink. If that glitches too, cc “setstage an_garrettdialogue 10” will set it forward to recruiting.

Seems a bit under loved in terms of quests/ story role than say Aduniel but he’s my favourite in this group. I appreciate straight female options. Cullen from dao/dai remains my favourite and wished Skyrim had someone like it. Instead,I have Kaidan and Garrett .well. maybe I’ll learn modding at some point.
Great job. There’s a severe lack of good make followers/ romances -either straight or bi- but the fee that have been added are quality works. Kaidan us absolutely one. Thank you for Garrett.

More information? Have you recruited him already? Dismissing problem? In new games he is ALWAYS inside the Black Swan. If not, something went wrong, maybe try re-install.

Not really close to Dragonbridge. The closest thing is the Dwemer ruin Bthardamz (where the Daedric quest for Peryite is).

We were speaking the other day about processing Garrett to favor and you have me a code. At 30 we had the love talk. We got to 50. I’ve read everything but I don’t know what to do. I’ve done all of the white phial, he is at 50. I’ve tried having him follow, not follow, waiting. No proposal or shift in dialogue. What am I missing 😦

I did some tinkering and it seems he is just…stuck at 30. Moving favor via the cheat GarrettFavor worked but now everything is stuck there and he just isn’t progressing to the next stage. I saw Andi has some quest stages similar to when a vanilla marriage is stuck- is there one for garrett that isn’t for favor, but to trigger a proposed? Once again, thank you. I guess my game just doesn’t like poor Garrett
there isn’t anything interfering in any way with him, so its just a glitch.
I really can’t help you without details. Did you follow his marriage guide *exactly*? At what point did it seem to get stuck? I was able to do it all just fine, but then I know exactly how b/c I made it. If there’s something I need to add to the guide to make it better understandable, I need some clue as to what.
Hi Anna. Aye I did everything correctly? Favor to 50 is the trigger correct? His guide is simple, but I could have missed something? I swear I’ve spent hours trying to figure it out and not bug you. I’m just glitched, I suppose- he won’t take it from love at stage 30 to propose at 50.

I got stuck at 30 from what i can see- because nothing jas changed between favor 30 and favor 50.
